reasons to feed your cat wet food

i have been trying to convince my friends to feed their cats wet food only because I have heard it is better for them. But they say that dry is better for the teeth and that they have always heard dry is better but I have heard otherwise. Now they want proof, do you have any links to studies or anything that gives evidence for why wet is better than dry? thanks!

There's a sticky at the top of the health and nutrition section called "reasons why wet food is better than dry" or something similar to that. There are a LOT of links in that sticky

Better yet, here's the link! lol

If you can't convince them of a canned-only diet, try to see if they'd be willing to feed 50/50. That'd still be a big improvement!

none of the sources were peer reviewed journal articles.

Peer reviewed huh? Yeah, I can understand that, it does make a stronger arguement.
Here's a link to one that was in JAVMA (Journal of American Veterinary Medicine Association-I think that's what it stands for)
http://www.catinfo.org/zorans_article.pdf

There are lots more. There's even a peer-reviewed website!
Go to www.pubmed.com and in the search engine type in cat carnivore diet

A caution with peer-reviewed journals. They are just that, meant to be read by peers, so in many cases they might be over the head of someone that isn't an expert in the field. You can usually get the gist of it, but they tend to throw around a lot of acronyms and words that they don't define since they assume anyone reading it will understand. I can read a journal about PCR, RSV, adenovirus, ect with the best of them, but feline nutrition, forget it! That's why a lot of the links above are great. They are written by someone that can digest and understand the journals, then put it in laymans terms. Many of them will cite where they got their info from. That's usually good enough for me!
