Visiting cat - advice needed

I am new to the Cat Forum - so hello! I am looking for some advice on how to make a temporary addition to our household feel at home without making my cat feel put out. I am looking after my mum's 10 year old tabby while she is on holiday for three weeks. I have a three year old cat and I am looking for help on how to make the three weeks as easy as possible for both of them. They have met before but my cat tends to just stay outside and won't come in. As it's her house I would like her to feel more confident. The visitor is large, but totally soppy and just wants to be friends. Unfortunately my house is not big enough to keep them in seperate areas. Any advice? Thanks, Clare.

You could confine the visitor to a room and prevent the resident cat from getting in there. Otherwise, if you want them to be happy together, you're best off doing a full new cat introduction.

If you want to introduce them together - I would give them both a bath and use the same shampoo on both of them. I know it sounds stupid but it really helps them get to know each other if they smell the same.
