In the news today

90-year old woman fights off bobcat to save her 20 year old pet cat...

http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/ ... bcat.shtml

(I admit that I first heard about this story today from the cat manager, who did a remarkable reenactment using me as the bobcat ).

I think I'd take a shovel to any person or animal who hurt my cat, as well.

Can you imagine the 911 call? "Hi, I have a bobcat in my bathroom..."

Yeah, you go after Assumpta, you're gonna have to take me down first (though Assumpta may actually be tougher than me...)

Actually, there was also another pretty big story today about an animal welfare raid on a dog breeder (whose AKC license was under suspension) upstate that netted 92 Springer Spaniels, 80+ of whom were found IN the house (how do you fit 80 dogs in a house?). It was nasty conditions (at least the poop that I heard this afternoon). What makes it more compelling is that the governor's wife bought a puppy from this breeder once...I smell an even more aggressive state crackdown on puppy mills coming.

That is a great story! I would not hesitate to do the same thing for one of my kitties. I have to feel some what bad for the Bobcat though, as it must have been very hungry to venture into population for a meal. In my area we don't have to worry about the big cats, it's the coyotes that sometimes have me a bit worried.
