What?! Fleas?!

So, we are moving. It's an exciting time. BUT....Everything costs money when you move! And now, the boys have gone and got fleas somehow so we have to pay for their flea baths ($60.00)! To try to save money, we tried doing it ourselves yesterday. We started with Binx since he is the more mild-mannered of the two (and the smallest!), but it was a FIGHT! We gave up after about 20 minutes of trying everything we could think of or read about.

Tomorrow, the boys are going for their flea bath and Jim and I will get some more packing done while they are gone, as well as wash or bag all of the laundry that could have the fleas or eggs on them.

I am NOT bringing fleas into the new apartment! The boys will just have to be brave for couple of hours.

lolakitty23 ,

Just a warning... one flea bath may not take care of the fleas for sure and for certain... if it doesn't kill the eggs... which will then hatch a little later on... and then BOING! scratch scratch... your cats have fleas again.

Better follow up with some flea powder...

Would it not just be easier all round to use something simple like Advantage?

Bobbie, what happened to the kittens under the house? Did they get homes? I lost track.

We will follow up with a treatment like Advantage. We used Bio Spot about 3 weeks ago, but the fleas didn't go away. We didn't notice them again until this past weekend, and I wanted to make sure we got rid of as many as possible ASAP so as not to tranfer them to the new place, hence the flea bath. While the boys were gone for their grooming, we washed everything and sprayed the house with a bug killer.

The boys seem happy to be flea-free. They gobbled down their dinner when they got home, and now they are snoozing on top of their new forts (the packing boxes all over the house)

Thanks for asking, Jeanie. I'll put up a post about it to let everyone know.
