I dont know but you have peaked my curiosity and I am now "watching this topic". And you know what? It's better than most TV shows.

If you can't spoil a pet, there is no use in having one.

That means you'll get an email notification whenever there are any more posts in that thread. Also, if you have "Notify me of replies" set to "Yes" in your profile, then whenever you make a post in a thread you'll be notified of replies automatically. You can deselect option that on any particular post by unchecking the "Notify me when a reply is posted" check box underneath the message edit window.

Sorry, this wasn't a very interesting show. But then....most aren't these days....

I'm pretty sure it just sends email reminders when someone replies.

Most threads have the automatic setting that once you reply, you get an email after someone else replies so you can keep up with it. (if you look on the bottom of the typing field there are some options and "notify me when a reply is posted" is automatically checked? That's what it means.

I think if you just "watch" a topic, you still get the email responses without actually participating in threads.

Except the setting referred to above is an individual user setting, per the user's profile, not the thread setting.

oh, I guess I figured it was like that for everyone since I dont' remember actually setting it like that myself. Is it defaulted like that?

It must default to "notify", because I just tried changing the notification in my profile, and when I clicked "post reply", the checkbox was still checked. Maybe it just doesn't send the email, but then what's the point of having a checkbox? Unless the change isn't reflected until the next login. Hmmmm.....no, too much fooling around. Got other stuff to do!! It's all going to change soon, anyway, and then we'll ALL be really, really confused!!
