Lando & Leia are making progress!
I know there are a bazillion threads on here about cat-to-cat intros, but I'm excited about the progress my kitties are making and I have to tell someone!
Last night my husband and I felt that it was time to try giving little Leia the run of the house at night. Lando really wants to play with her, and of course, when she gets scared and runs, he thinks 'Oh Boy! Chase time!" Then there is hissing and posturing, and the kitten ends up hiding and sometimes even cornered. It was a bit of a long night, but they managed to find separate sleeping places, with Lando in his accustomed place next to me. My hope was that they might sort some dominance issues out and get used to seeing each other throughout the house.
This afternoon, two firsts:
1) The two of them are currently napping here in the same room with me, about two and a half feet apart. That's got to be good, right? That they're relaxed enough to sleep near each other? As a matter of fact, Leia is sleeping in a cat bed that Lando used for a nap yesterday.
2) Lando has been trying to greet the kitten for a week now, but she tends to growl or hiss when he sniffs her rear or nose. However, about an hour ago there was a mutual sniff, and just before naptime, when Lando came in, Leia made the first move and went to sniff Lando's nose! That's the first non-defensive move she's made toward him, ever.
We're getting there. Yay kitties!
