Poor Miko! (cat meets rabbit)

I was headed to bed a short while ago, but as I was getting ready, I noticed that, in their cage, the bunnies were especially restless (unusual for this time of night). I decided to give them a little extra time out, and so that's why I am here, sitting at my computer at 12:30 in the morning...

While the rabbits are running around, the three young cats are in the room as well. They get shut in with me every night, so that Beeper can have the house to herself.

Anyway, shortly after being let out, Rex (5 pound Mini Rex) began doing Bunny 500's around the room, interspersed with binkies. Very entertaining.

And while he was doing this, Miko, was laying in the middle of the floor. They play "tag" and have mock chases all the time, and I don't really worry about their interactions. She was swiping his feet as he ran by, and rolling around on her back as if to say, "play with me!"

She got distracted by something (our other rabbit, I think) and looked away - belly completely exposed. And at that exact moment, Rex launched into a spectacular jump-twist-flip...

...and landed square on top of the cat

Miko's expression was just priceless. She had been caught off guard by the rabbit. With her mom and her sister she knows to be wary of sneak attacks. But the harmless bunny?

The best part of it was, though, Rex's reaction. Or lack thereof. If it had been a mistake, I would have expected him to act a little surprised after landing on a soft, cushy object that immediately jumped off and ran off. He didn't so much as blink. Just sat there for a moment, and continued running around.

(He'd never admit to it, but I think the little stinker planned it.)

And poor Miko was so humiliated she jumped up on the bed and snuggled with mom. I don't think she'll be making that mistake again anytime soon...
