Introducing them for the first time

We need some advice. Right now we have our kitten who is about 6 months old. Tomorrow we are bringing over another cat that my wife took in almost a year ago. He's a big cat, about 14 pounds(he can almost touch the counter top when he stands up). He has been staying with her grandmother, who has a dog, and they get along great. When he's outside and other cats are around, he actually tries to get back inside away from them. Now, our kitten went nuts over a porcelain cat that we had to put up, and she seemed rather interested in my mothers dog. Being she is so much smaller then he is, I'm wondering what kind of problems could come up. I don't know if we should just let them meet each other face to face, or let one of them stay in a room for a few days.

Well, we did it. We, let them meet. It was alittle hairy at first, but now all they do is chase each other around, for the past 14 hours. He'll chase her, she'll chase him. They sound like horses running up and down the steps. She will not leave him alone, although for her whole life she's never had a play mate. It's funny, she tries to get him to go after her. She will jump at him real quick then take off running and look back to see if he's after her. I'll get some pictures posted by the end of the day.

They're having a great time, aren't they? It's great that they have each other to play with--and fun to watch!
