cat doors

we just moved into a great new house with a fantastic screened porch. The previous owners installed a cat door that goes from the main house onto the screened porch. Our two cats love being on the porch, but will not use the cat door....any suggestions on how to acclamate them to the door?

Can you use treats or tuna fish to lure them out through the cat door? If one makes it through the door, the other one probably will see it's okay and will follow.

If you can, try propping the door open (duct tape or something) and they'll figure it out. Sometimes the flaps can make them a little nervous but once they realize it's O.K. they'll use it. Just give it a little time. They're cats! If they want to be out there they'll find a way. Good luck!

I agree. Try and keep the flap open. They should just walk right through the open hole. Then you can try and put the flap back and see if the will use it.

I used a string I put it through the door and slowly pulled it and before the kitty knew it he was through the door and got the string from then on no problems I also taped down the magnets so it didn't make noise. Good luck
