Are you sure there's nothing wrong with her? Has she been checked by a vet?

4 times a day sounds excessive for poopies. Does it look normal - solid, like a tootsie roll? If she's just started it after 10 years, it usually means she's trying to tell you she's got a problem. I would not rule out any health issues yet.

Something else I just thought of: can she get in/out of her litterbox without a problem? Sometimes they develop arthritis, and have difficulty climbing over the lip, even if it seems low to you.

Hope you discover the problem soon.

Elizabeth you stated in this thread that your cat (now I am presuming that you are talking about the same cat) needs to have her tooth removed.

I would get this work done as her going to the toilet outside her litter tray might just be connected.

EmmaG, many thanks for the link. Is this the same cat, or a different one? If the same, then teeth issues qualifies as a big health problem.

yes its the same cat, she has been to a vet, they said she was healthy aprt from rotten teeth, she is having a tooth removed this week, but bad teeth cannot be connected to pooing in the house? It is quite loose yes. She is still purring happily though and jumps on your lap.
