I'm so sorry I missed this! Condolences on the death of Sand, was s/he the same as the Sandy with the urination problems?

I'm glad you feel strong enough emotionally to accept another kitty in your heart. She sounds like a sweetheart.

What good fortune to be able to visit the kitten you're going to adopt while she's still with her mother. It's a good opportunity to be able to let the kitten get to know you. It's important for kittens to be socialized to humans before they're eight weeks old, because it's in those early weeks of kittenhood that they are set for life whether or not they will enjoy being handled by humans. So, spend plenty of time with your kitten while she's still nursing, play with her and get her used to you handling her. But don't be in a rush to take her home. Let her stay with her mother at a minimum eight weeks, and even up to twelve weeks is even better. Then you get a strong, healthy kitten, without any of the behavior problems of a kitten taken from its mother too early. You've got the rest of the cat's life with you. Now you have the opportunity to do it right from the start.

Best wishes and good luck!!
