Un neutered to kitten with neutured tom

Can anyone tell me if they have had experience as the same as my current situation. I have a neutered tom (18 months) and recently rehomed a 4 and a half month old kitten tom thinking he could use a friend after losing his brother about 4 months ago. I have been very slowly introducing them and while they will now will eat tuna from the same plate, Charlie still isn't happy and growls at the new arrival. Isaac runs up to Charlie, as kittens to, do play and Charlie doesn;t like this and is quite hostile (growling etc). I am getting Isaac neuteured now that he is just under 6 months in the hope he won't have a 'stronger' scent than Charlie and therefore less of a threat. Will this be the case? Do you think this could change how Charlie views him and give it another few weeks or give up now!? Does anyone know how long it would take for his 'scent' to calm down?

Thanks!

Emma elise,

I see you have already posted this topic in Behavior:

Please don't double post -- it's much simpler to keep a topic in a single thread.

I'll lock this one and keep the thread in Behavior open.
