Help with an Email!

I got the following email from my mom today. She has had a few cats before but they were always outdoor barn cats on her farm. This will be her first indoor cat ever really. She is asking about names... and suggestions would be great but my main concern is the kitten's age. If the birthdate she has given is right this kitten is only 6 weeks old. Should she be getting some supplement kitten formula? Here's the email.

"HELP!! I have been given a siamese kitten (male) for a housewarming gift. He has 4 white feet (toes mostly) and a white mustache. Born 8/16, not sure he should be away from his mother, acts like he is lost - afraid to eat, poop, etc. Cries alot! BOY what sharp little toenails!

What I need help with is name suggestions. I have thought of "Stache", "Boots", "D.C." and just calling him Baby Cat. None of those really appeal. You have had cats - can you suggest something. His parents are either siamese/balinese or mix of the two. (Maybe even a stray in there!)"

Thanks in advance for any help.

Gonna try to attach the picture mom sent of the kitten.

What a cutie! As I understand it sometimes kittens are given away early before they lost the "cute" factor, they are seen as more desireable the younger they are.

Is he coping ok with kitten food? If so I would imagine he'd be fine and not need any sort of supplement.

If he isn't pooping it may just be anxious but if it carries on your Mom may need to stimulate the kitten with a warm, damp cotton bud.

As for names, I am useless at being creative, hence why Dylan got a human name suggested by my boyfriend

Hi, it may be a little different here in the UK but it is recomended that kittens remain with the mother for the first 8 weeks minimum, and 9 - 12 weeks is the ideal, they may not be as cute but the are certainly ready to leave home and are more secure in themselves, the kitten is obviously missing it's mother and may not be properly weaned, see what your vet recomends.

Names are always difficult Bailey springs to mind as a name - couldn't say why though
