Wish us luck *back* it's bad....cancer.

have an appointment with the vet at 2:45 today.

For the large lump on Tubey's stomach, hoping it's just an abcess.

We though she just had an abcess, turns out it's mammory tumors, it'll cost $800 to get them removed, and even then it's a 50% chance they'll come back.

I know my mom's going to want to just put her to sleep. She's only 8.

I'll have to go see if I can get a personal loan from the bank tomorrow, or something.

oh I'm so sorry to hear the bad news. (((hug)))
Its such a shame that money has to be the deciding issue for so many people when it comes to their pet's health. Unexpected health problems can be so expensive sometimes, and so hard for many of us to afford. I hope you are able to scrape together enough to have the surgery.

I will be keeping you and Tubey in my thoughts.

I was in the same boat about 6 months ago. Precious had two mammary tumors removed. The vet charged $250. I would see another vet, if I were you.

I so hope all is well.

I wish the best for you and your Tubey

After seeing Jeanie's post, I would probably see another vet as well. Good luck

I think all vets around here charge alot. We moved vets this time, because our one cat had an incident, and had to have stitches, and it cost us $300.

This vet's cheaper than the last.

Here's all that he said need to be done:
CBC profile(bloodwork) - $95
Radiograph - $70
catheterization - $65
IV - $10
Fluids - $ 17
Anesthesia(first half hour) - $70
every other half hour - $45
ECG monitor fee- $40
Mastectomy - $90
Over night fee - $23
pain meds - $13
Biopsy if wanted - $95

Okay not $800 more like $663

Will have to try an get a personal loan, or if need be sell my horse , as I haven't even paid for her yet($500). Or get a second job.

Trying to see if I can get her into Michigan State University, it might be cheaper.

check out www.imom.org
I'm not sure of their financial situation at the moment, but they are a reputable group that helps people get treatment for their pets. In your situation, since it is not a life and death emergency, you'd be put into the pets in need area in which case you basically try to raise money for your pet. I've seen it work, but when it works is because the owners are very proactive in getting involved with updates and stuff.
Here is the link to the actual financial aid application

Is there anyone you can borrow the money from? Even small amounts from a few people?

My heart goes out to you! I hope you're able to buy her some *quality* time.
