anyone own an Ionic Breeze? (allergy related)

I bought two top of the line Ionic Breezes today from Sharper Image. I put one in the bedroom and one in the office, where the animals hang out.

Anyone have one of these? is it helping? I am hoping it will reduce the dander in the air and reduce my allergy symptoms.

I have an air ionizer (an off brand). The first three days I used it my head hurt like ****** because of the volatile organic compounds it ionized from the plastic inside the fan.

After three days of gassing off, the fan was fine. It had dramastically reduced my allergies.

How much does that cost? I would be interested in getting one.. I am sadly allergic to animals somewhat.. enough where Allegra cuts it some, but my job is with animals, and I will never give them up..

I have two, and I absolutely love them. I am not sure about its ability to reduce allergy since I don't have any. I do see the junk it collects. They are great for odor control (the main reason I got it).

I got used ones from the auction site because they are more affordable (40% less). Sharper Image has great customer service. My first unit was acting up after few months, and they happily replaced the unit TWICE, with a new one each time.

These are NOT cheap!! I bought the top of the line..with ozone control, and an extra feature..a UV light for killing bacteria..the first unit cost about 550, they sell the second unit for half price. The two units together cost about 900 bucks!!
They also threw in a free gift..a mini-Ionic breeze that you plug into the bathroom outlet..so now the bathroom is nice and fresh also!!

With five animals, I MUST reduce the amount of dander in the air..!!!

I have 2 also. I don' have allergies but I definately can see the gunk the fins collect. Better on the fins than in my lungs! They are completely silent and I think they are good for odor control.

But I am not really convinced they were worth the money. Consumer Reports reviewed these types of air cleaners and basically said they were a waste of money. They said you are better off with a traditional hepa filter unit and you should not use the ion boost feature if you have ashma. The extra ozone produced is not good for people with breathing problems.

I do think they clean the air some and I'm still using them because they were so expensive. But I'm not sure I would buy them again today.
