Thermostat at 65 ok for house cats?

I seem to notice a little more sneezing around this time of year and at night I turn the thermostat down to 65 because I sleep better, but I was wondering about the cats and probally more so the short haired ones?

I keep my house cooler than that all day and have had no problems with my cats, all of whom have short hair. I don't see why it would be a problem.

In the winter time I keep mine between 60 and 65-I'm cheap! Neither of my cats have had a problem. They do have little patches of sun they can curl up in and the house usually heats up to 70 during the day.

I keep my house cool during the day...60-62 usually and in the 50's at night. Gas is very expensive and I must conserve. My cats are just fine. It's one way I can get them to cuddle with me. I just make sure they have snuggly places to sleep.
Yours will be just fine

65 is like a dream come true for them. I mean....there are cats that survive outdoors for days at a time in freezing temps. I know my cat at my moms house, Dusty, he managed when we broke record cold temps about ten years back (-52). That was before we brought him to our house. He used to be in and out at his whim basically, now he is mostly an indoor cat unless he is leashed outside.

Unless they are acclumated to a 90 degree house, they will be fine. Thats why they have fur!

I just noticed the more frequent sneezing and do have an unfinished basement that gets cold. They sure do cuddle more, woke up with three cats on me yesterday.

The acclumation to warmer temps concerns me a little because they are probally used to 78 degrees from the summertime, I only have small window air conditioner. Thanks for putting my mind more at ease though, I don't like to invest alot into the gas company if I don't have too.

Cats are wearing heavy fur coats! They should be more than fine in 65 degrees.

Oh, yay, it's great to hear about other people who are energy cheapskates like me! Sometimes I feel like the only person I know who does this.

It's all about conservation, baby!! Turn down the heat, put on a sweater, and snuggle with a cat. Sure beats spending big $$ on oil or gas.

Either your rich, frugal or indebted to the credit card companies. I perfer frugal. Rich hasn't been an option, and eventhough they wish to borrow me all kinds of money- no to the creditors if at all possible.
