My cat does'nt purr?

My Sam who is 2 yrs old and spoiled does not purr, ever! Is this ok? All my others do, some just when you say their name, but not Sam.

Each cat is different. The cat at my moms....I dont know if he doesnt purr, or if it is just a very soft purr that I can barely make out.

Cleo on the other hand, doesnt purr that loud, but when you are close to her you can hear her. But she makes up by snoring like a log.

Sometimes Mellie's purr is so soft I have to put my ear to her neck to hear it.

I can't hear Calypso's purr, but if you put a finger up to her throat you can feel it!

That's my Lexi!

Ace, Harley, and Lola Bean purr like a chainsaw. You can't hear Lexi's, only feel it.

But everyone is right.....some cats just don't purr!

My Sunshine purrs but I can't hear it. I always assumed it was because of his heart murmur that he cannot exert his chest muscles very much.

one of my cats rarely purrs.

He purrs loudly when kneading my hair, so I know he is capable..but he doesn't purr when we pet him, play with him, etc.

I used to have a cat who I don't think was capable of either purring or meowing. The only sound she would ever make is little churps.

Most cat can and do purr, it's just a matter of how loudly they can purr. You can't miss Velvet's purring!
