How do you fight the urge for another cat?

From time to time I get these urges to get another cat...
another dog too for that matter!

Do you guys have this too?
What do you do to stop it?
I need another pet about as much as I need a bullet in my head!

Open your purse/wallet

Look at how much money you have, have enough?

That's usually enough to stop people.

Actually, I've never really had the urge to get another cat, just to have another cat. I donate heavily to the local humane society, and my boss is on their board of directors....it's the stories that get to me! Like the one about the big black cat that the old lady fed for a couple of years as a stray, and when her family decided to move her to an assisted living home, she refused to go until they caught him and took him to the shelter because she wanted him to have a home, and he was there for months because no one wanted a black cat (he's Mr personality, by the way ), and the young lady that lost her job and had to move in with family, and dropped the 2 little cats that had been together all their lives and she wanted them kept together, and although they had lots of people interested in one or the other, no one wanted both....I just had to make sure they stayed together....and last but not least, the snuggly beautiful white cat that no one wanted because he has three legs......

Now, when I drop of donations and supplies, I just make myself stay away from the cat room

I don't ever get an urge for a cat - they just have found their way to me.
But if you are having an urge, maybe volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue organization - or would that make it worse?

Also, a lot of rescue orgs need foster homes. Maybe you could foster and help out and that way you aren't spending any of your own money.

OR... if you want another and can afford it and all, then go for it!

All the time. But then I just think that one is enough. I'm happy with Cortia.

Well I'm legally and financially at my limit, so it wouldn't be fair to my current pets to bring in more. That's usually enough for me!

Just consider: you don't know how much another cat is going to add to your laundry.
