Question about getting cats to be friendly with each other

Hi all..I'm new and have a question.... I used to live with my now ex-boyfriend..we had 2 male cats, cody and sundae...him and I split up, he took sundae, i took cody...I moved in with my mom, and she already had 2 female cats. It took a while for them to get adjusted to cody, but eventually they did, now all 3 of them are buds.... I recently reaquired sundae due to my ex not being able to keep her any longer. I've been keeping sundae in my room because she is very friendly, and the other cats don't like her which causes a big cat fight between the 4 of them. I had sundae castrated on monday so he is still healing and I don't want him to get hurt. How can i start introducing sundae to the other 3 cats without them killing each other. Right now, he lives in my bedroom, and i'm going insane due to him meowing and scratching at my door trying to get out all day and all night...I want to get him aquainted with the other cats as soon as i can..any advice would be helpful. Oh yeah..some more info that might be helpful...one of the females, cody and sundae are all very dominent cats...I think that is part of why they all fight whenever sundae gets near them...Thanks again

I think you're probably right....too many cats want to be dominant. Maybe your Mom's female cats accepted Cody because he's male. And adding in another male to the mix upset the balance. For now, you should keep in your room because if they really get used to disliking each other, they may never get over it. Use Google to search for articles on the internet about introducing cats. "introducing new cat" and "new cat introduction" should bring up lots of articles on how to do it.

Good luck.

Now I have another problem..ugh!! Well I let sundae out of my room as soon as I got home around 4:30pm...I stayed out with her until 8:30 to make sure she didn't fight...within the first hour we figured out a few things...Cody, the other male, just growls and hisses...the 1 female runs and is afraid of sundae...and the other female, sundae likes to pick on and fight with....So I put the 2 females in a room, and I left cody and sundae out. Everything was good...I laid down for bed around 8:30 , I decided I would leave sundae out so I could get some sleep since when he is in my room he meows constantly and I can't sleep. I got up this morning, and the whole house smelled of cat pee.... I got sundae fixed on monday so I thought that would end the spraying problem.. Now my mom wants me to get rid of him because when i let him out the whole house smells of cat pee, and when I keep him in my room, nobody can sleep...anybody got any suggestions

Sundae was just neutered on Monday. It takes a couple weeks for the male hormones to wash out of his system. If he was spraying before the operation, he'll continue spraying for a while.

oh ok..I thought once they got neutered the hormone would be gone instantly...I think I'm going to make sundae a nice comfortable home in my garage until the spraying stops... He is such a good kitty, I don't want to get rid of him
