How to Feed a Cat that won't eat?

I took tubey to the vet because of her labored breathing and cloudy eye, they gave her an injection that perked her up and she ate and acted normal that night.

They gave us Predisone to give ehr every day, and now she won't eat she actually jerks her head away from the food and whines.
Could it be becasue of thePredisone?

Whatever the injected her with worked really well.....I don't know way they didn't give us that in pill form or something.
It's called Dexamethasone?

She already only weighs four pounds as it is.

Is she acting normal otherwise?

Dexamethasone and pred are both steriods. Does your cat have an upper respiratory infection? Are there ulcers on it's tongue?
I would certainly take the cat back to your regular vet or seek out another one. Your cat may need IV fluids for rehydration if she is not eating. There is also a diet called A/D that is for both dogs and cats. It can be syringed to the animal easily.

She had breast cancer, had the tumors removed, and a month later she started getting a cloudy eye and having labored breathing. Vet said she sounded congested and gave her the Dex. then gave me the pills for at home.

All she does is sleep.

She's been eating fine since surgery, then last Sunday started lookinf funny in her eye and slept all day, then tuesday the breathing got ragged so took her in Wednesday, and she acted normal when we got home, until the next night she went back to sleeping all day and not eating.

Maybe she's just giving up?

Will call the vet again in the morning.

When do side effects kick in?

I've been reading about Dexamethasone and Prednisone side effects.

Dex has anorexia as a side effect.
Pred. has an increased appitite as a side effect.

Could the side effects caused by the Dex. just be kicking in now?

Maybe that's why she isn't eating??

Will discuss it with the vet in the morning. May call our old vet, but he's usually a rip off, but if it helps her I'll pay more I guess.
