Air Purifiers

Hello Everyone,

I'm wondering whether anyone has experience using air purifiers at home with 7 (or more) cats. My cats get to go out during the day and come home in the evening. FYI I'm in Malaysia which enjoys a humid tropical climate.

Thanks.
Regards,
Shamsul

Hey Nancy,
Does it still work if you leave the windows open? I've been thinking about getting one but I always have all the windows open.

I like to leave the windows open normally..but to tell you the truth, the Ionic Breezes work MUCH better with the windows closed.

I have an electronic air purifier on the furnace, which works great! Are they available for your air conditioner? The others I have are small, for one area only. You need one for the whole house. I hate winter so much, I envy you!

Does anyone use Ecoquest Air Purifier?

I saw a demonstration of Ecoquest's (see http://www.ecoquestintl.com/index_home.asp).

I was impressed with how the ozone generator gets rid of the smell of ammonia. However, when I did a search on the product I came across some opinions saying that ozone is bad for health etc. etc.

I had a look at the Ionic Breeze which nancyLA uses (it has Ozoneguard). Unfortunately, it's not available in my country.

Does anyone of us have experience using Ecoquest's air purifiers (with a perspective on its interaction with cats).

Thanks.

Shamsul

My sister gave me an Ionic Breeze for my birthday last year only to find out six months later that the ozone it produces is VERY harmful to your lungs. The information got a lot of press so now the new Ionic Breezes come equipped with something that changes the ozone to oxygen. Oh great, so here I am with an almost new Ionic Breeze that I CAN'T USE ANYMORE!

I was looking for the best air purifier for a long time and learned quite a bit about them. They must have a metal case or they omit their own pollution or gas. Get rid of bad air and replace it with a different kind of bad air. This is the most common overlooked issue with the lower cost units. Don't buy a ozone one either.

I bought a IQair brand and I don't have any complaints. Austin air is another good system that is a bit cheaper.

I tried Ecoquest at home for a week

Hello everyone,

For the whole of last week the local agent for Ecoquest lent me a demo unit of the Ecoquest Freshair. I was quite impressed with its performance. I ran it 24/7 for the week. I thought it was particularly good at getting rid of the odour that's associated with having 7 cats at home. FYI I have 7 cats that are locked up indoors with us from about 5pm to 7am.

Having said all that, I remain a little skeptical that it might have been a placeabo effect since my wife said she didn't really notice any significant difference in the air quality in our home during the week. The argument that the ozone dulled our sense of smell also played on my mind. We didn't however suffer any perceivable ill effects or discomfort.

Is there anyone here who has experience with Ecoquest's air purifiers (or some other ozone generating machines) who can help?

Thanks.
