Can someone give me tips on how to make a cat tree?

I want to make my own cat tree for Tuxie and I saw in the forum that there are some members here who has done it themselves and did a great job (I saw Willow771's.) I would like to get information as to what I'll need and how difficult it would be. It seems to be easy. Any help will be much appreciated!

Cat Tree

I made a simple one for my Latte and it only took a few hours, probably given my terrible skill at using tools. I got a 2.5 x 2.5 of ply wood covered with carpet as a base, nailed in a 3 ft piece of wood wrapped in sisal rope for a scratching post. I also nailed in a 3.5 foot piece of wood with a 2 ft. piece of the cardboard tubing (used for pouring concrete forms) cut in half as and covered in carpet as a napping spot. Latte likes it, and it is simple. All told it cost me less than $20. You could easily add on to this for a more complex design.

Thanks merollins and willow! I really appreciate it! I have plans on making it but I need to know how to secure the carpet on the wood, how to secure the wood to each other and any other tips.

this is what I'm thinking of making.. just few modifications here and there.
