How many is too many?

I have two dogs, and three cats again.
I adopted another Siamese mix this past weekend.
I had to run into Petsmart yesterday and they had a cat there that was there a month ago. I didn't go back there this weekend for adoption b/c I thought he would definitely be gone. Well he is still there. He is an 8 month old male, DSH, white and black, but here is the clincher. He has one eye. They girl there didn't know the story but I want to find out this weekend when the do adoptions again. My boyfriend thinks we have enough animals but that kitty is just too cute and he needs a home. I always think that people are going to over look animals like him and I don't think it is fair. I already have a dog that lost one eye, so I feel I should give this kitty a home too. But that will make 4 cats and 2 dogs.

Geez, Can't I have them all!?!!

As long as you can care for the animals you have, both emotionally and financially, then you are fine.

We have four dogs and four cats. We also foster dogs, but I only take in one foster at a time. I know that I couldn't do more then that. For us, that is our limit.

Only you can answer the 'how many is too many' question.

Make sense?

Yup! I agree. The too many question is going to be different for each person and situation. We are at the limit. One dog and 4 cats. I think any more would create possible problems as we are at our limit space wise. All is good now but I would not take a chance after this. We had to think hard and carefully when we took in Winston.

hOW MANY IS TOO MUCH?

I agree with all of the posters here - if you have the space and the money to take care of another cat, then do so.

This is a great act of kindness, on your part.

I also agree, if can take care of them. But it's when you know you have too many is when you 1. forget all or some of the names 2. you go and call one by the wrong name. 3. or you just say here kitty, kitty and yell puppy, puppy around dinner time. 4. when you have to label there bowls that match their collar's *color*.

Yay...I'm glad you decided to get him. You will have to post pics and let us know how it works out.

I agree with everyone. As long as you have the time, money and space there never is too many. I have 4 cats and a turtle. I had to leave my dog with my ex when we broke up. So hopefully I will have another dog sometime.

I'm glad you decided to adopt him too! Keep us updated on how it goes!

And the "how many is too many?" question is like a trick question around here. Most of us will tell you there is no such thing as "too many"!

We have 12 pets, 4 cats, 2 dogs, 2 rabbits and 4 guinea pigs....

And I am always looking to add, even though I wont, but I always look...I always say "one more cant hurt"...LOL..And a definate yes on being able to afford them and care for them correctly, if ya cant provide, then you get what you can provide for...

My husband would skin me alive if I brought another "charity case" (as he calls them) into the house...Eh, Im a sucker for a furry homeless sad face...
