When they discover new tricks

(yes, an Assumpta story)

So last night, my husband went to bed and I stayed up a while to finish up some work. Assumpta has been having a "walking on the counter" period lately, just to bug me...all I have to do is say "don't make me come over there" (in that special tone) and she hops down, secure in the knowledge that she's been noticed and bugged me.

So, I hear "busy" noises from the kitchen and go to investigate. There's Assumpta, sitting happily in the empty kitchen sink, with this LOOK on her face that said (I swear): "I know you said not to get on the counters, but this technically isn't a counter, it's a sink...see??"

Don't you just love it when they come up with a new one?

Yep Miko does this all the time! (maybe it's a tortie thing?)

She'll sit on the windowsill, on my dad's briefcase, even in an empty cardboard box - and then she dares us to tell her she's on the counter

Poor, misunderstood Assumpta! The sink is NOT the counter. Tsk, tsk!

When I see Tink heading to do something bad, I'll yell over at her and she'll start doing something else, like rubbing on something or playing with something, and looks at me as to say, "no no, you were wrong, i was going to do THIS instead!" And then when she thinks I'm not paying attention, she'll go back to causing trouble...lol.

Well, like Assumpta's look said, "technically" the sink isn't the counter so she really wasn't doing anything wrong after all

One of our kittens,(don't know which one) will start playing the piano around three at night and if you try to ignore it forget it, she just plays more and more. When I finally do get up their both sitting on the floor looking up as though saying, its time to eat and by the time I do feed them(I have to or else they start playing the piano again) its almost time for the alarm to go off to go to work.

My mother's cats all played the piano. I am quite embarrassed, as a piano teacher, to confess that none of my cats has even tried! However, they do like to beg for attention when I'm giving a lesson, and they loved to hear me screech the violin. I'm sure they recognized the sound, because I sounded like a one woman tom cat fight!

Oh Assumpta, she sounds just like my 8 year old daughter. Always trying to outsmart mom! Gotta love cats! (And daughters.)
