FETCH!

How many cats out there of yours can play fetch? My cat can do that only with me, not anyone else, and i havent trained her to do that!

Dune does! He would do it for hours if you let him. We used to wake up in the morning with four or five catnip mice, milk carton rings, and stuffed animals in our bed that he'd brought during the night for us to throw to him!!! We even taught him to "speak" before we would throw it. He would drop it in our hand, sit down, meow and then run after it when we threw it!!

He doesn't do it as much anymore, Daltrey (our dog) steals them from him before he gets the chance to do it, and when we bring Dune in for solitary play time he has to be "in the mood" or he'll halfheartedly go to get it, pick it up and then drop it before he gets back to us. He's gotten MUCH lazier!!

My old cat Casey did.
With him it was very specific.
He'd only do it with his "roundy round"-the ring off of milk caps. We'd throw it into the dogs water bowl and he'd fish it out and bring it back.
He'd only play if you threw it into the water

That's how Lucky turns off the light in the living room. When I'm ready to go to bed and I don't feel like extending my arm about 6 inches to turn off the light as I'm going upstairs, I'll hang a milk ring on the switch and Lucky does the rest. Of course, he'll do it even if there isn't a milk ring there, too.

My sister's cat plays fetch, she didn't teach him, he just started doing it on his own.

Trixie brings me her toys but if she runs off with them we're done.

Kota does but only with the bubble caps that come off water bottles. Stix played fetch only one day that I can remember. It was either with a bubble cap or a milk jug ring. I guess he learned from watching her...I didnt teach either of them.

Bugs used to fetch those little superballs. He'd do it untill he'd be panting. hasn't fetched for around three years, now. But every once in awhile I'll wake up in the morning to find his ball of yarn, next to the bed, that he'd brought some time during the night.

I used to think Audrey played fetch with paper balls. If I crumple up a section of paper into a ball and throw it, she would carry it back to me with her mouth. But then I realized that she is just taking the toy somewhere she feels save to play with it, because a few times now she takes it somewhere nowhere near me and plays with it.
