My cat puts everything in the water bowl!?!?!

My cat's about a year old, since he was a little kitten he's been putting everything into his water bowl. All his toys, and whatever he can grab thats around the house. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I break him of this? Thanks for your help!!!

Max does that too and I've always wondered why. He has this long stick with a feather on the end of it and he carries it around and then drops it in the water bowl... it's kind of funny.

I know that when cats drop bits of food in their water it is because they don't like the way it tastes (city water especially); the pieces of food they drop in make it taste better for them
As for toys in the water - I had a few fosters that did that - and only when they were young. I kept taking them out, washing them and drying them off. The habit broke off as they grew.
So all I can think of is keep the water bowl free of "debris" and sparkling clean at all times, and have good tasting water.

We're forever finding toy mice in the water bowel. I think its just our NFC that does it.

Stormy used to do that ALL the time! It has lessened a lot since we got a water fountain. She would drop the toy mouse (or other toy) into the water and then bat at it with her paw, so maybe it was a game to her?
The worst was when she would fish out the wet mice and put them in our shoes without us realizing it. Yeah, that's fun...stepping your foot into your shoe and realizing there is a wet toy mouse in there! It's funny though. I guess that's what we got for playing "hide the mouse in the shoe" with her.

I found his long plastic stick with a mouse at the end in his food dish. I have also found toys in his water dish. They can be funny creatures! Gotta love 'em!!
