We live in a townhouse complex that has a few feral strays around. The majority of them are not tame, and until this weekend I thought they ALL were wild. I came home on Friday night to the loudest meow I had ever heard. I turn around and there is this orange and white kitty yowling up a storm and frantically rubbing itself on a car. I could tell it REALLY wanted some love, but I was hesitant because it was turning in circles and was really low to the ground, glancing around furtively. I went inside to get some extra canned food that I had, and came back out and called it. It started to slink toward me, still acting completely weird.
As it crossed the middle of the drive, out of nowhere the smallest cat I have EVER seen came flying out from underneath a nearby car and skidded sideways in front of the bigger orange and white tom. It's tail fluffed up and its back arched, growling up a storm. The tom cat hightailed it for the woods and the little kitty comes running up to me happy as you please to curl around my legs and reach for my hand with her head.
She followed me back to the house and I put some food out for her. She was sooo skinny and tiny! She is a total lovebug!!
After she had eaten her fill, a few more feral cats started wandering toward me. She'd let them get within 6 feet or so and then take off after them with her tail fluffed and back arched. It is the funniest thing I have ever seen. It is like she is saying "This is MY human and you can't have her. That goes for the food too!!"
I will definitely have to get some pictures of her. I am going to try and find her a home, preferably without other kitties! I don't think she could handle constant vying for attention.
