Lost kitten; depressed kitten
Hi,
I have had my kittens for about a week, and the kittens have had free roam of the house for about 3 days. I came home pretty late last night, and as soon as I opened the door, one of my kittens (Jack) bolted out. I tried to follow him, but it was pretty dark, and I couldn't see anything. I sat out on the porch for a few hours, playing with his toys, hoping I could draw him out, but no luck. I even enlisted my roomate and about 5 neighbors to comb the area for him. No luck. I left some of his toys and food outside, and went inside to my other kitten, who was and still is freaking out. Misty won't play, or eat, and is scratching up everything (including me!), and is constantly meowing. I reported Jack's disappearance to all of the shelters that I know of, but I'm hoping that he's not far. But I don't know how to handle Misty in the meantime. I feel awful.

You're not a bad mommy, just a new mommy with things to learn. I'm new at this, too, so I don't know what to tell you. I'm sure other members will give you some good advice regarding Jack and how to help Misty through this. It sounds like you did what you could at the time and I hope someone finds Jack soon. In the meantime, there are some stickys on what to do if your cat is lost, you might want to read through those. Best of luck, I'll be thinking of all three of you.

I woke up to an answering macine message that says that Jack was hit by a car
