She misses me....

When I am at home and if I go into the basement and close the door, Dusty will sit near the door and whine for me for a bit. But when I come upstairs she just goes about her normal business, so its not like as soon as I am back she want to play. What an odd kitty....

It's a door that's CLOSED! Very upsetting.

When I shut my cats out of the bedroom at night Stormy always tries to run in the door before I close it and when she fails, looks at me with big guilt-inducing eyes through the closing door. However, if I leave the door open for the cats to come and go as they please, she mostly pleases to stay out in the living room (until one or both cats decide I've been ignoring them long enough and come to wake me up so I can pet them -- hence my shutting them out).

I think it's not so much that she wants to be with me right that second as that she minds not being able to be with me if she decides she wants to.

Cats get very upset with closed doors. Their curiosity impells them to need to know what's on the other side. Of course, once it's open then they're totally bored with it and go about their usual business.
