Introducing Maui to Kringle

As some of you know we are in the process of introducing Maui to Kringle. Its only been about a week so far and its not going too bad, although Kringle is still growling and just being nasty. I was wondering if its normal for him to be different with me. These past few days he has been swatting at me (no claws out though) and im a little afraid because hes being a little aggressive. Is this typical behavior? Is he perhaps jealous of Maui taking his space? He has also wanted to play more too, but again right after play he gets nasty again, for example we played with one of his toys for about twenty minutes but right after that he came around behind me and swatted me on the arm for no reason! Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!

He knows you're responsible for bringing this invader into his home, and he's p.o.ed at you. The swat after play could have been just a playful "gotcha", or it could be a "Don't go thinking you're off my **** list!" reminder.
Don't be afraid of Kringle. He'll sense your fear and it will escalate his little pounce into a larger one. If he didn't love you he wouldn't have kept his his claws sheathed.
Remember, it takes a conscious effort for a kitty to keep claws in during a pounce. Kringle does not want to harm you! Trust him.

His world has been upset by this new little intruder, so he lashes out at everyone. Quite normal.

Make sure to give him alone time with lots of attention. Many owners worry about the transition into the house by the new cat, because the new one has been uprooted and moved. But they adjust quickly, especially kittens. It's the existing cat that really needs the attention and coddling. He needs to know he's still #1 with you. So treat him like a king!

Thanks for the advice! I am going to give him lots of attention to keep him happy (and the brat is getting lots of treats out of the deal too!) I understand why he is mad at me but its hard, can't wait until this is over!!!!
