Shoulder kitty!

Im in the process of getting my new kitten tonight and I was wondering what would be the easiest way to train him to sit on my shoulder?...lol.

I used to do it with my friends cat and I loved it. Any good links for training cats?

My cats a shoulder kitty, his balance is not good enough for him to sit on them but he throws himself over my right shoulder and kinda hangs there. He also jumps from the ground to my shoulder (well he tries I have to catch him and give him a boost). My cat i Siamese and I know they are notorious shoulder kitties, my other Siamese hates being held so it might be individual personality. If your kitty likes to be held I would just start by holing him backwards you know, with his front paws on your shoulder. Boost him up a bit until he is more on your shoulder and let him got used to it there. Maybe do it while sitting on a couch so he feels more secure up there. But some kitties just don't like being shoulder kitties. Congrats on the kitten, I'd love to see some pictures

Give him treats when he's on your shoulder. He'll probably want to sit there all the time.

Shoulder kitty

Marble will occasionally run up me like I'm a tree and then stand on my shoulder. I have NO idea why she does this and I did not try to get her to do it, she just started to do it on her own.

I guess one way would be to put them on your shoulder while you are walking around the house.

But, this is my first kitten so I have a lot of question rather than answers. That did work for me with pet rats though when I was a kid, LOL.
