Kitties together.

For a few years since my cat Pepa died I have had another cat called Emmy, so t hat Chippy my boy cat had a play mate since he has been around other caats all his life, and he seemed really loney without Pepa even though Pepa didn't really like Chips, Emmy and Chips have obviously got on pretty well because lay lie on the same bed together and chippy licks her head every so often although for the last couple of months I have noticed that they seem to be getting closer, and a bit more competitive, as if for attention.

This morning, I was snuggling Chippy's belly, and he was watching Emmy the whole time and she was staring at him at same time. I then stroked both of them but it was as if they were laughing at each other because one was getting slightly more attention than the other because I couldn't reach them both.

Emmy even though is much smaller than Chippy, wears the trousers in that relationship because she pushes Chippy out of the way when I have fed him. She comes running down the stairs. She gives him a bit of a slap every so often and chases him. I don't know if it is playing or not.

Can anyone shed some light on the matter.

She's just reminding him who the boss is.

I agree with Heidi...it's not play, but not real aggression either...she's just re-establishing her position in case he forgets.
