once a cat pees on stuff will it ever stop?

My 8yr old cat is peeing on the bed and the couch. I took him to the vet yesterday and he has a urinary tract infection (so we think) I got some food and medicine for him but my question is is even though I have cleaned the couch and the bed like crazy person after he is better will he go back to peeing on them because the scent is there?? Any advice is great!! thanks!!

If you cleaned with Nature's Miracle or a similar enzymatic cleaner (and really soaked the area, not just spray it on) you should be fine. If not, do it now as enzymatic cleaners are the only thing that will break down the urine into it's chemical components and that eliminates the smell. Typically after a UTI they go back to using the box pretty easily, it may take a few days for the medicine to work (when Kobi had a UTI he peed of the box twice after the meds started, the last one was 3 or 4 days later). Just clean all spots wirh the enzymatic cleaner and I'd say you have a 99% chance of being fine.
