Kitten help!

I got a new balinese kitten about 3 weeks ago. He was 8 weeks old when we got him, and "litter trained". There are two floors, and a little box on each floor. He spends most of his time downstairs, and uses his litter box without fail each tim--never any accidents. However, when he sleeps in the bed upstairs, even though there is a litter box right next to the bed..he has been peeing on the bed. He has used the litter box upstairs, just not as much as the one downstairs since thats where we are most of the time. He has used the litter box upstairs properly. However, most of hte time he just jumps in it, plays in it like a sandbox, then jumps back out and proceeds to pee on the bed. I tried the whole puting him in a little room by himself with the litter box, food, and water already for the first week we had him..and when I noticed he peed on the bed a couple days in a row, I put him back down there for another week..When I let him back upstairs again at night, he didnt pee on the bed and used the litter box properly for a good 5..but this morning, he did it again! Any suggestions? He doesnt have accidents anywhere else in the house..i just dont get it. And yes I wash the blanket immediately after, and I dont think it's UTI

What have you been using to clean the sheets and matress after he's peed on it? Cat urine is very strong and even though you may not be able to smell the urine on the bed after cleaning it...your kitty probably can. Lots of people here suggest natures miracle to clean with and you really have to soak the mattress real well. It is available at petco and petsmart I think.

he hasnt been peeing on the mattress itself.. just on the little blanket over it, and i get him off and throw the blanket in the wash before it ever had time to soak through. thank goodness hes a kitten because the pee hasnt gotten that horrible odor yet.. but yes ive been washing it with natures miracle. does spraying the blanket with natures miracle after help them not want to pee on it?
