Taz is driving us crazy

Taz is our tuxedo cat, about 8 years old (we got him as an adult, and have had him for 5+ years).

He's always been a talker but lately he talks ALOT and kinda wanders around the house. He's not quite pacing, but he's in movement alot more than he used to be. He doesn't look relaxed when he's wandering around.

He just started scratching the box spring a couple of weeks ago. He's never done that before. This morning he did that at 3 am (hubby not too happy cuz once he wakes up, there's no going back to sleep).

Is he just entering a new phase in life, or is this something I should be worried about?

Have there been any major changes in your household? What about the chance that there might be a tom spraying outside?
Taz is feeling a need to be more assertive about his territory and he's expressing that need. It could be a phase he's going through, or because of some outside influence.

You know Gunnter, as winter is coming the kids havent' been going out for their evening playtime in the yard. I wonder if that is it?

Now that you say that I have noticed that Taz and Bob are getting in to it more- they can sleep together, but then they can chase each other around the house. Typical brothers.

Maybe I need to to more directed play to let Taz wear down some energy.

Sounds like a cat who's bored, restless, or anxious. Sounds just like my Rocket.

If you can give Taz some more mental stimulation and some more exercise, that may help. Feliway diffusers might have a calming effect. And try to keep the stress level as low as possible.

This may just be a phase.....hopefully, anyway.
