some tricks

I bought a clicker and am going to start training my two cats and wanted some ideas of what to teach them. I am already going to do sit, come, down, paw, twirl (in a circle) and possibly roll over. Can anyone think of anything else?

Do they fetch? Precious did that on her own; she taught me! You could also teach them to speak. I tell Blueberry to "Say Ma," and he does. And when Nina says "Ma," I tell her to say, "Mama," and she does...but that's because she really wants the treat or the food I'm getting ready. I think it's a coincidence, but it's cute anyway. I love my babies!

Is twirl standing on their back legs? Wow.

Thomas knows sit, lay down, roll over (this is a toughy), and up. For "up" he stands on his hind legs and touches his nose to my hand.

No sorry I should have been more descriptive. Twirl is just turning (walking) in a complete circle. I do think teaching Willie to stand on his hind legs would work though I should give that a try too. Right now for him though, is sit. Neko already knows Sit and paw so he's learning twirl. I don't think Neko would appreciate having to stand on his hind legs so that's probably a no for him. I'm also going to use the clicker to teach agility (just for fun). can you tell I miss dogs?

Neko does fetch but he won't bring the toy to me really, just in my general area. I could probably shape it though...

"Up" was fairly easy to teach. I just held a treat in my hand, held my hand a little above Tom's head and told him, "Up". He leaned back (not even off his front feet) and took the treat from my hand. I kept doing it, holding the treat higher and higher each time until he was standing up on his hind legs to take the treat. Then I started doing it without the treat.

He still gets a treat or just a nice cuddle when he does it right, but I know longer hold the treat in the air.

I love that he does tricks. I should try to train the other boys.
