How to keep a cat away?

2 of my cats keep jumping up on top of my turtle tank and knocking of the lights on top. I have already had to buy 4 new UVB bulbs that cost $16 a piece and I don't want to buy anymore for a long time.
So, is there anything I can do to keep them off the top of the tank? (I have a screen on top)
The tank is in my room and I can't shut the door because the door doesn't shut.

I use tape (duct or electrical) that I fold so the sticky side is up and I put it around the edges and well as in any place he tends to prefer to sit when he goes up there. That combined with stopping him before he jumps up and removing him as soon as he does worked wonders, I actually don't need the tape anymore.

My cat is actually pretty stupid. I don't think he would understand if I just took him down. He would just keep going up there and up there. He even chases his tail!

You tried the tape too? That sounded like a good idea.

Cats also don't like the smell of citrus - they back off like it's offensive! A combination of sticky tape and something lemony might work - oil of lemon, orange peel, Pledge, or that orange-derived hand cleaner that gets off grease? (As long its safe for your turtle).

(When we had a box of those little clementines - mini-mandarin oranges - I had to peel them wearing gloves, or else Gracie wouldn't let me near her! My feelings were pretty hurt at first until I figured out what the issue was...!)

You could try a plastic carpet runner. The kind that has the little nubs on the back. Turn it nub side up wherever you don't want cats. They don't like to walk on it. You can buy it pretty cheap by the foot at some hardware stores.
