They hit HARD!

Today, I decided to bring Kitty down for a visit. She is too nervous to traverse the stairs, so I had to carry her. Downstairs, I put her on a cat bed in the sun and then I sat down beside her. She stayed where she was and the boys began there attempts to get her. Usually, I have the spray bottle with me on these excursions, but this time, all I had was a container of treats.

One by one the boys approached, I shoo'd them. If necessary, I threw treats. Eventually, they all moved away except for Kota. He moved closer and closer, until he was sitting right near her. He kept crouching lower and lower, I thought he was gonna jump on her. I had my arm around her and he was on the other side of my arm.

Suddenly he leans over and waps her on the back! I, luckily, had quickly moved my hand over her back at the same time, so Kota hit me instead. OW! No wonder she hates that so much! And he just had his claws clipped yesterday...so I only had the pain of him hitting me, no scratches.

I hate when they behave badly...and I hate that they want to hurt her so much.

So, after that, Kitty quickly made her way back upstairs while I threw treats to distract the boys and then I followed and shut her door again, so that she could be alone.

I just hadn't realized how hard they hit when they whap each other like that!

Naughty Kota! He needs a time out. Poor Kitty, like she doesn't have enough problems. I hope you gave her extra scratches when you brought her back upstairs.

Have you tried using Feliway with the cats to help calm them down? It's a real miracle worker.

Yeah, Feliway abounds at our house (I have 2, one upstairs and one down).

The only thing that works here is a bodyguard...and even that doesn't work very well when the bodyguard falls asleep.
