Cat eats after me, but no one else.

I have a cat, she is about three years old. She eats her cat food but occasionally is given a little milk after my husband or myself have had cereal - the thing is, she will only drink it after me. It's the same milk, and the same cereal, she just wont drink after my husband, but if i take a sip of the milk from the bowl, she will then be interested in it. My husband is no stranger to this cat, she has been around him for two years. I was wondering why this might be?

Maybe she doesn't want guy cooties! Seriously, sometimes a cat just has a quirk, no explanation at all.

Just in case you're not aware...many cats are lactose intolerant. It will show up in the litter box as diarrhea. If she doesn't have any issues, the milk treat is OK once in a while, but just don't over do it.

She is okay with milk, and it's never that often, I just notice when she is given milk, it has to be touched by me before she goes for it. The same with water - she will leave my husbands glass alone, but will stick her head right into my glass.

Re: Cat eats after me, but no one else.

Welcome, and please pardon me for saying so...but could this be a preference for, um, breath odor?
We noticed after my husband quit smoking that the cats were finally happy to interact with him. Before, they didn't want to be picked up, held, snuggled, cuddled, sleep with him or accept treats from him. After he quit, they mob him the way they mob me and he enjoys them much more.

When we married in the early 90s, my dog came with me. She was a wolf-hybrid and if he told her to do something (sit, laydown, go out, come in, whatever...) she would look at me and I would tell her to do what he said, and then she would do it. That drove him bonkers, but at the time, I think he was just too new to the 'pack' and she hadn't figured out the hierarchy and her place in it.
