Multiple questions !

Arnie and Sly are brothers. Arnie is bigger and more dominant. If we are watching any TV program or video on the computer that has kittens meowing, Arnie walks over to Sly and bites down on the back of his neck, and just holds him. He doesnt attempt to carry him, nor does Sly seem upset about it, is this just a protection thing ?

Arnie, likes to have a finger between his teeth ! We noticed this recently, that if you put your finger on his nose he will first start licking the finger, and then eventually he will clamp down on it... not hard.... just holding the finger.....and will not let go until you pull it away! any idea what this means ?

Sly is a licker, but only in the morning. Around 6am, he becomes a baby. He licks my girlfriend eyelids and snuggles up on the pillow between us and won't stop whatever we do. It doesnt seem that he necessarily wants us to get up and feed him, is it that he just demands some attention ?

Sly is also extremely vocal.....he doesn't meow, he kind of chortles and makes some very weird cat noises. He walks around muttering to himself all the time. Meowing because they want something I understand, purring because they are happy I get, walking around muttering I dont ! Does it mean anything ?

Re: Multiple questions !

Arnie is acting much like a mother cat. It could be a way of showing dominance, but much of his behavior, especially the love bites are a way of showing us affection. Cats are the only animals that give love bites. I think both of your cats are happy and contented.

Re: Multiple questions !

From my limited experience kittens who have been taken away from their mothers too early become bitters, nippers, and suck on things. early removal might have brought on this behavior with Arnie.

biting on the back of the neck can be a dominance thing ~ showing who is boss. this is done but not in a bad way.

I think it is cute the way Sly licks and snuggles with you in the mornings. Its his attempts of entering your world and enteracting with you. very sweet on his part. Plus you have an expressive talker/ Chortiler. He seems very happy in your home.

Youve just entered advanced classes in cat 101! Welcome to their world. It sounds like youve found two great companions to journey with you in life.
