New kitten and old cat - Help!!
My husband and I got a second black male Persian kitten two weeks ago. Our first is a grey Persian female, Penny, who is a year old now. Our second kitten was very young when we got him. The vet put him at between a month and a month and a half. The guy who sold him to us said he was 6 weeks old. I just felt really sorry for the poor mite and the conditions he was kept under which is why I got him even though he looked really young. He was underfed and I could feel his bones sticking into my hands when I picked him up. Its been two weeks now and Zeus, even though he is very young, never really gave us any trouble except in one area. When he uses his litter box he doesnt cover up. We have kept him isolated with his own litter box and food for almost two weeks When we took him for his check up the vet said he had a cold and gave him a shot for it, He also had worms and given a tablet for it. Fast forward two weeks he seems a a happy kitten who is very active and zips around the house when he is let out of his room. He loves to cuddle and cries for attention if he are not paying attention to him. My problem with him is his litter issue. How do I get him to cover up after he uses the litter box?? Is there anyway to prevent him from using pennys litter box as he does this every chance he gets?
Initially Penny was not too fond of him and hissed at him whenever she saw him (since we kept him isolated). But after he got dewormed I started to let him out a little to socialise with her. After a couple of days of hissing and chasing each other they became friends (i think). She grooms him by licking his face and pays particular attention to his rear end. Is this normal? IS she doing it because he is a male kitten or is there some other reason for it?
