Introducing A New Cat With Pics

Last month we adopted a new male cat whos 4-5 months old now

He seemed to be lonely most of the time and just wanted to lay in his bed most of the day. So we decided that maybe he could use a friend so he wouldn't feel lonley. Yesterday I adopted a 10 month old spayed female, now he didn't feel jealous at all and wanted to make friends with her but she just hisses at him and chases him away. Both have seperate litter boxes and food bowls away from each other. She doesn't bite him but she has told him who is running the place now. How long does it take for cats to be friends?

The female in question

Did you do a gradual introduction or just throw them together?

Welcome to the forum. Some cats will instantly be friends but with most, you need to do a careful introduction.. All cat introductions are different and some cats will just tolerate each other but never become 'friends'.
It's only been a day so don't stress too much yet. I would recommend reading up on cat introductions though. With my cats, it took a couple of weeks before they started playing together, grooming each other and snuggling. I was really worried the first week as Sammy didn't seem to want anything to do with us or the new kitten we'd brought home but now, they are inseparable!
Cute kitties by the way

Just put them together, its hard to keep one locked up in another room, kids are always opening doors.

Well then it might be awhile - I did a slow introduction with mine and it went great -- good luck with yours!

I never do introductions, because I live in a studio apartment... so it's all just one huge room. There is the bathroom, but it's TINY (only a toilet and a sink... I have to go upstairs to use the shower, and cats are FORBIDDEN upstairs).
Paizly eventually gets used to everybody else, and while she doesn't necessarily LIKE the other cats, she tolerates them. So far I've been lucky with no fights OR catching diseases (rescued 2 feral kittens with horrible URIs, but neither of my cats got so much as a sniffle!)
