Self grooming

MowMow has this thing about grooming and I'm wondering if it's just him or a cat thing. He won't groom on his own. He has to be laying or sitting touching me to self groom. If he has schmootz and needs to groom he comes to whereever I am and leans or lays on me while he grooms.

He does the same thing with water. He won't drink unless I'm standing with him. Is this a cat thing or is my cat a weirdo ....?

I dunno. My dog used to have the same prob with drinking water. You had to get water straight from the tap for him. He wouldn't drink on his own and he certainly didn't like sharing water bowls with the cats.

LOL. I'm not so sure it's love. He acts like it's more "Ok, you watch my back and make sure nothing attacks me while I'm at teh watering hole". (Aka, the bathroom sink)

As to the grooming; I keep wondering if he's just trying to leech body heat to keep him warm while he's damp.

It sounds like a unique little quirk of his. Could be a warmth thing as well. My Devon Rexes always like to be on or beside or touching me. As I type this I have one in my lap. Mine don't need me standing beside the water bowl tho.
