Sexual Dominance

We recently (3 weeks ago) adopted another cat, an 8 month old female dilute torbie named Pandora. Our 1 1/2 year old boy gets along well with her, no hissing or fighting, they like to play chase and take turns in the crinkle tubes. If Jack doesn't know where she is, he'll call for her. Jack is neutered and Pandora is spayed. The problem is a couple of times a day Jack will grab Pandora by the back of her neck and um mount her. I know when the older cat shows dominance to the younger cat you are supposed to let them work it out as long as no blood or fur flies, but what about this? He isn't hurting her and when she's had enough she bats him in the face and he stops, but should I interfer with this?

The victim Pandora aka Spider Cat

The perpetrator Jack aka Poofer Man

Well he's showing his dominance, but I doubt for much longer. Most torbies I've ever had are spunky cats, usually "rule the roost" and won't put up with any nonsense. At 8 mos, she's still in her teenage years, but watch out, Jack, when she hits maturity around a year old. I doubt very much she'll allow that---unless of course she's enjoying it too!
Not to worry, I would just let them be.

By the way both cats are reeeally cute!

Well, nothing can come of their "fooling around", and since Pandora puts him in his place when she's fed up with him, I'd just let them be. They're both sweet, and it's great to hear they're getting along so well after only a few weeks together!

Thanks! Yes she already lets him know when she's had enough and he does stop. I just wasn't sure if sexual dominance should be allowed as oppsed to just dominance.

I'm glad I'm doing the right thing with them. Yes, I feel very lucky they get along so well. Jack is my snuggle boy and Pandora is her own girl and loving on her terms, I love them both!
