Can't Resolve this Pee Issue
It's been a while since my last post. My male cat had a run of peeing in our basement and pooping. After several vet visits we put him on Prozac to try to alter his behavior. We changed the padding under our carpet and cleaned the carpet with an enzyme based cleaner especially for cat urine twice. It helped for a while, but then he started up again so we had to up his dose to the highest possible. Again, worked for a while, but now it's bad again. I have found pee on my daughter's jackets, dribbled on our bed, and random spots upstairs so it's as if he is just wanting to go anywhere suddenly. We block off the basement when we are gone or sleeping, but if we leave the gates down even for a moment he goes down there and poops or pees. I keep the litterbox super crazy clean out of paranoia and do see him use it time to time for which I praise him. He has a high stress level and grooms himself constantly if too stressed so he gets bald spots. I worry about doing anything too drastic and making it worse. I do have a 3 year old he despises as she is in that hyperactive stage, but we try to keep her away from him or tell her to be nice often. I've had him 7 years along with my female cat that I've had the same amount of time as well. She has perfect behavior, but him...ah! HELP!
