cat confused by auto-litterbox time delay
I adopted my cat last week. He's awesome and seems to pickup on things really quickly, but I'm having trouble with a scoopfree automatic litterbox I just got.
Getting him to try it was no problem. I pointed at the scoopfree, he went in and looked around, pawed the crystals a bit and came out. I reassured him it was ok, he seemed to get it and tried it out.
I left the bathroom and a few minutes later he BOLTED down to his hiding place - seems like he does that when he's trying to lie low for a while. The litterbox has a 20 minute delay before it cleans up any mess so I think he thought he'd done something wrong because of the smell. I went down to reward him and let him know there wasn't an issue but he was clearly avoiding me. So how do I make him understand I want him to use it?
On another note, are they cat meds that you shoot into their mouth with a syringe flavored or something? I missed a bit with one of the meds and he lapped it up off the floor. I'm curious if he liked the taste or he just knew he had to take it to get better.
