Color preferences and excessive meowing?

Ok, I think Apollo has color preferences over his toys. He has tons of them, and I noticed something about a month ago, for the first time.

I bought him little jingle balls, about 10 to a pack, and he also has a pack of those tiny colored mice roaming around my apartment. He usually bats his mice under doors into closets and meows until I get them out.

A green mouse, and a green ball always wind up in one corner in my room. An orange mouse always winds up in my bedroom closet. Every couple of days I gather all his toys and change them out with something he hasnt played with in awhile, and I toss them about the apartment for him to find.

His favorite toy ever, is his chicken. THe one that was attached to the hanger that was supposed to hang over a door frame that he broke, lol. He carries it everywhere with him.

So I decided to get him a new little fluffy toy. It's yellow. He's in love with it. Now he makes sure hes playing with both his chicken and the new toy.

Have any of you noticed if your cats have color preferences in toys? It's happened with me only once before. My other cat used to only play with the pink mice out of those little packs of mice.

Another question - Excessive meowing. Apollo has been a talkative kitten since the day I got him. He goes through this thing once a day (at least) where he wanders around and meows real loud, like a serious stress call. Sometimes it's when he's playing and he's misplaced his toy, sometimes it's at random. He does it when I have to put him in "time-out" or when I keep him out of my room at night.

The only time it really bothers me is when he starts doing it at random. He seems like he's really stressed out and something is bothering him pretty badly. I almost feel bad, he sounds so sad.

Could it be boredom again? I don't mind that he talks so much, I find myself having little conversations with him during the day, lol. Anyway, any ideas?

I know that dogs are color blind, but I had a dog who must have really liked whatever shade of grey orange showed up as, because she showed an obvious preference for all things orange.

Apple pretty much plays with anything of any colour, but Pedro most definitely has a strong preference for bright pink & purple items. Pale colours or even red don't seem to attract him at all. I think he has some sight issues so it could be related to that, but yes definitely he has a preference.
