new kitten worries

I'll be introducing a new kitten into my single cat household in 2 weeks. My little boy has been increasingly lethargic, depressed and acting out since his two companions passed away. I'm worried, though, that the kitten might negatively affect his behavior. I know it sounds silly, but what if he becomes so attached to his new feline friend that he launches into hyper-kitty-tearing-through-house mode and forgets all about snuggling with me?

I wouldn't worry about things that haven't happened and likely won't happen! Chances are your boy will be less attached to you when the kitten first arrives, since he will need to adjust to the kitten being there, but that sort of behavior doesn't normally last too long. Also, it tends to be relatively easy to introduce a kitten, particularly to a cat who's used to living with other cats (which I take it is the case for your boy, since you say he had two other companions that passed away). Just take the introduction slowly, following the usual cat-to-cat introduction steps, and you should be fine. Good luck!
