'Fire in the hole'!

Robin reacts to 'fire in the hole'! He heard it twice on T.V. ... and ran for cover! Then, last night curious,I said it,and he tensed up,looking foe some place to scamper. Where has heard this before? It's a warning of explosives in use. The family who had him before was pretty ordinary...maybe he saw a demolition?

I very much doubt he recognises the words, he's more likely reacting to the tone and volume. Usually when someone yells out "fire in the hole!" it's at the top of their lungs, not much good if they muffle it is it really :-D, so it's the sudden loud noise that's startling Robin

It was a pretty common military term too. We used to use it while horsing around....back in my much younger days of course. Robin is most likely reacting to the tone, not so much the words. Try using the same tone with different words and see what happens. Or the same words in a different, or sing song tone.
