Is my kitten’s edgey ‘running away’ play?
My kitten is about 7 months now. One thing that I’ve noticed is when she’s hyperactive she’s forever running away from me. Not just when I try to approach her but even when I move or flinch, she’s off darting around the place away from me.
In contrast, she has moments where she’s very affectionate, too. So I don’t know if she’s scared of me exactly. First thing in the morning when I let her through she’ll be up on the bed, purring loudly wanting cuddles and headbutting my phone out of my hand to get them. Or at night she’ll sit on the bed with me and cuddle up to me, and is happy to sleep with me (until about 5am when she gets up and I have to move her through to the living room or I’d never get any sleep).
She’s very unsure of other people, but with me even though she runs away when she’s ‘awake’ and active she’ll still follow me about room to room and meow if I close the door (for example to go to the toilet!).
Is this running away just her trying to get my attention, wanting me to chase/play with her (I will spend time playing with her which she’s always up for)?
She’s also very good when picked up, never struggles unless someone she doesn’t know is approaching her.
